Some good news: Bertucci's just opened a new fast casual concept in Boston near Government Center. It's called Bertucci's Pronto and aims to feed commuters quickly. Let's hope it lasts.

The former Ruby Tuesday at Wrentham Village Outlets in Wrentham, Mass. |
To quote the Rolling Stones, it's Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday for much of New England. It's just the latest chain that's starting to disappear. Eat Up New England noticed its longtime location at the Wrentham Village Outlets is now closed. It was there for a good 20+ years. There are now zero locations in Massachusetts. However, the chain is not dead in New England. There are still a handful of locations in Connecticut and Maine. Ruby Tuesday is one of the few remaining restaurants to still have a salad bar or a "garden bar" as they call it. It's been slowly shutting down local locations in recent years, but there are still more than 200 Ruby Tuesday restaurants nationwide as of this writing.

Chocolate Lava Cake and Lemon Creme Brulee |
Kittery, Maine
It was a snowy Saturday in April when we stopped by Bistro 1828 in Kittery, Maine. Finding this delightful restaurant on the water took our minds off of spring not being spring.
My wife and I were seated on the third floor, known as The Ski Club. It has its own little bar and the food is delivered from the floor below on a food elevator. The highlight is the view. We got the best table in the house overlooking the water and two lighthouses.
We were lucky enough to visit during restaurant week, so we were each able to try an appetizer, main course and dessert for $32 each. The polenta fries with feta were amazingly good and the roasted leek & fennel bisque was the perfect warm up on a chilly day. I enjoyed the halibut with fries for the main course. For dessert, it was chocolate lava cake and lemon creme brulee, which were the perfect end to a delicious meal.
