FALL FLAVORS IN FULL BLOOM AT RED BIRD IN WALTHAM, MASSACHUSETTS

It's been a few weeks since Eat Up New England had dinner at Red Bird in Waltham, Massachusetts. Since then, there hasn't been a day that's gone by where I haven't thought of their Grilled Hanger Steak. It was that good.

Red Bird bills itself as offering seasonal new American cuisine and it certainly delivers on that promise. We began our meal with one of their tasty salads. The Organic Mixed Greens is made of almonds, green apples, cheddar and Chardonnay Vinaigrette. It was light, tasty and so New England. Other starters include mussels, potato gnocchi, duck confit empanadas, oysters and a boneless beef short rib.

Onto my glorious Grilled Hanger Steak. I'm not even a huge steak fan, but for some reason this dish called out to me. The steak was grilled to perfection and glazed with bone marrow butter. Sooo good. It was served on a bed of brussel sprouts and fried potatoes. Other entrees right now include a chicken breast, scallops, swordfish, tagliatelle alfredo and a pork ragu.

For dessert, we enjoyed their apple tart, which is served with warm with vanilla ice cream. It's the perfect fall treat. They also have a fall pumpkin cake with toasted marshmallow on their seasonal menu right now.
