MOUTH-WATERING SMASH BURGERS AT BIG DADDY'S BITES

Sunday, June 29, 2025

Big Daddy's Bites

Big Mac-Daddy
In the burger world, nothing compares to a smash burger, which is why people are lining up at Big Daddy's Bites. This food truck specializes in smash burgers. They are made to order and mighty tasty.

Eat up New England recently stopped by when they were parked in Uxbridge. I ordered the Big Mac-Daddy and loved every bite. This stomach-busting burger is made of two patties, three buns, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, pickles and a special sauce. It also comes with fries and I would highly recommend their Cajun fries. There are a bunch other mouth-watering burgers to try like their Spicy Hawaiian with a pineapple ring, BBQ sauce and jalapenos or do some California dreamin' with their Cali Burger which comes with bacon and guacamole.

Check out Big Daddy's Bites' Facebook and Instagram pages for where they will be next.

Blount Clam Shack

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer. There's no better way to welcome the season than with some fresh seafood. Blount Clam Shack has a restaurant and market in Warren, Rhode Island. They also operate a food truck that shows up at events during the summer. Eat Up New England was excited to find the truck at the Memorial Day parade in Blackstone, Massachusetts. My kids and I enjoyed their clam cakes and New England clam chowder. There's also a lobster roll, grilled shrimp,  fish and chips and some lobster nachos, which look amazing.

The food truck is set to stop at Wright's Dairy Farm many times this summer, along with many other places. Check out their website to see where you can find it.

THANKSGIVING ON A HOT DOG

Friday, November 17, 2023

Thanksgiving Dog at Snappy Dogs
It only comes but once a year. Today, Snappy Dogs in Hopkinton, Massachusetts served their famous Thanksgiving dogs. As you can see, they pile on the turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and gravy on top of a hot dog. It's just so tasty. They also bake mini pies to top off the meal. I'm so happy that I was able to take part on this holiday tradition. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

It's fall festival season. Wojcik's Farm in Blackstone, Massachusetts is a fantastic place to get your autumn on. There are hay rides, a corn maze, fresh donuts, apples, pumpkins and every weekend there are food trucks like Braised. This food truck specializes in "low and slow" cuisine like beef barbacoa, chicken and pork. Enjoy it in one of their bowls or try their tacos. The taco bowls are really tasty and fresh. Each one is filled with lettuce, rice, cheese, tortilla chips, black beans and house crema. Vegetarian and gluten free options are also available.

FOOD TRUCKS: THE CHUBBY CHICKPEA

Monday, February 14, 2022

The Chubby Chickpea food truck

Falafel pita
I always love it when food trucks roll up to Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. This weekend, the Chubby Chickpea pulled up. They specialize in Middle Eastern food. I really enjoyed their falafel pita. It's full of flavor and the perfect size for lunch. Their rotating menu also includes shawarma, chicken schnitzel and fried eggplant. Make a lunch plate with a garden salad, rice or chickpea salad as a side.

Follow The Chubby Chickpea on social media to see where their trucks will be each day.

BLOOMS, BREWS & BBQ AT WESTON NURSERIES IN HOPKINTON

Saturday, September 18, 2021

BBQ from PJ's Smoke N Grill

Palagi's Ice Cream Truck

Fall festivals are back as more and more people get the Covid-19 vaccine. Today, Weston Nurseries held their Blooms, Brews and BBQ festival. The event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. This year, people could get in by showing their vaccination card. It was all for a good cause with profits going to the Jimmy Fund.

PJ's Smoke N Grill of Medway was one of the restaurants taking part. I LOVED their mac n cheese and Mexican street corn. I enjoyed a raspberry seltzer from Hopkinton's own Start Line brewery along with it. For dessert, I hit up the Palagi Brothers ice cream truck. It's my favorite ice cream truck in Massachusetts because they have hard ice cream!

THANKSGIVING ON A HOT DOG

Sunday, November 22, 2020

Many Thanksgiving traditions are alive and well this season despite the pandemic. One of them is this Thanksgiving hot dog from the Snappy Dogs trailer in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. They have been offering this hot dog on the Friday before Thanksgiving each year for the past 11 years. It's topped with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. It may sound like a crazy combination of flavors, but it's really quite tasty!

Happy Thanksgiving!

THE WHOO(PIE) WAGON

Saturday, October 10, 2020

The Whoo(pie) Wagon

It's always a good day when the Whoopie Wagon rolls into town. Today, it spent the day at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. This food truck offers many tasty takes on the traditional whoopie pie. This time of year they are baking a pumpkin whoopie with cream cheese filling. It is amazing. Other flavors include apple caramel, chocolate chip, red velvet and carrot.

One of the highlights of this summer has been the Cousins Maine Lobster pulling up at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The food truck became a national sensation on Shark Tank when its founders partnered with Barbara Corcoran. Now, Cousins Maine Lobster Trucks (and restaurants) can be found in cities around the country.

All of their food is phenomenal. Of course, there are traditional hot and cold lobster rolls. Those classics can be found everywhere, so I ordered some of the more exotic items. The lobster grilled cheese is fantastic. It's stuffed with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses. The lobster tots are also a favorite. The large portion of tots is topped with warm lobster, pico de gallo and a cilantro lime sauce. Cousins' soft lobster tacos are also a delight and are complimented with a cup of their clam chowder or lobster bisque. Cousins also offers a lobster quesadilla, shrimp tacos and a lobster tail and tots. There are kids meals and whoopie pies for dessert.

Check out their website and social media for where their trucks will appear next.

SAY CHEESE!

Saturday, November 30, 2019
"The Wedge"
Say Cheese!
www.saycheeseft.com

After spending the morning Black Friday shopping, I was delighted to find the Say Cheese, a grilled cheese truck at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The family-owned food truck is based out of Worcester. It can often be found at the Tree House brewery in Charlton, but this Christmas season, it's making a couple of stops in Hopkinton.

I LOVED their grilled cheese called "The Wedge." It's stuffed with bacon, tomato, cheddar and bleu cheese crumbles. They also have a sandwich called "Pickleback," which is filled with pickles, cheddar and bacon. If you're not into one of their specialties, Say Cheese! will make you your own custom grilled cheese. Choose your cheese and fillings. This time of the year they are also selling hot cocoa along with their cold sodas.

Check out their website to see where Say Cheese! is stopping today.

DELICIOUS DISH: TURKEY GOBBLER HOT DOG

Friday, November 09, 2018
Turkey Gobbler
Thanksgiving on a hot dog. Today, the Turkey Gobbler was the special at Snappy Dogs in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce were all piled on one of their big hot dogs. It was like two meals in one. Some of the fixins fell off, so I ate the hot dog first. Then, I was left with all of the Thanksgiving deliciousness. It was such a tasty way to celebrate Thanksgiving early.

A small, unassuming cart sits by the side of the road in Framingham, Massachusetts. It's easy to drive by, but be sure to pull over and discover Zippity Do Dog. This cash-only hot dog stand is open for lunch only and its flavorful creations have customers coming back for more.

Eat Up New England's favorite is their Mexican Dog. It's topped with salsa, nacho cheese and crushed tortilla chips. Yes, on a hot dog and it tastes so good. Eat Up New England also enjoys their Zippity Do Dog with coney sauces, caramelized onions, mustard and bacon nestled along the sides of the bun. Other hot dogs include the Hula Dog with pineapple and BBQ sauce and the Chili Dog with chili and cheese. Zippity Do Dog also serves burgers, Italian sausages and grilled cheese.

FOOD TRUCKS GALORE AT METROFEST

Saturday, June 16, 2018
Say Cheese! Grilled Cheese Food Truck
The Pickleback
MELT Food Truck
Classic Poutine from MELT
The food trucks are a huge draw at MetroFest.
It was food trucks on parade today at the annual MetroFest in Framingham, Massachusetts. This traditional community event kicks off the summer ever season with local vendors and a line of food trucks. I sampled a few of the trucks, starting with Say Cheese! I loved their Pickleback grilled cheese with bacon, cheddar and dill pickles stuffed in the sandwich. I also can't turn down poutine so I ordered the Classic Poutine from the MELT food truck of Worcester. The fries were topped with gravy and a generous amount of cheese curds. If I had an extra stomach, I would have ordered a Bobbie from the Cappriotti's food truck.  I also saw an amazing looking taco quesadilla from another truck.

CLOVER TO CLOSE DOWN ITS FOOD TRUCKS TO FOCUS ON ITS RESTAURANTS

Monday, July 31, 2017
Inside its Boston location near Dana-Farber
Chickpea fritter sandwich
Clover Food Labs is taking all of its food truck off of the road so they can focus on their brick-and-mortar restaurants. On its Website, Clover's CEO, Ayr, Muir writes that it has mixed emotions about this. Clover started out as a food truck. They were a staple at SOWA Market and could always be seen at busy spots around the city. The good news: we can still enjoy all of Clover's fast food vegetarian menu at its restaurants. I'll have one chickpea fritter sandwich, please.

The Roving Lunch Box
Salted caramel apple pie from The Roving Lunch Box
Roxy's Grilled Cheese
Ham & cheese from Roxy's
Boston Trolley Dogs
Cheese slice from StoneFire Pizza Napoletana
MetroFest is a sure sign of summer in Framingham, and this year there was an added bonus to the festival, admission was free. Every year, businesses set up tents and live music fills the air at Bowditch Field. The food trucks are Eat Up New England's favorite part. Many Boston-area favorites were here this year including Bon Me, Trolley Dogs, Roxy's, Capriotti's and The Roving Lunch Box. I really try to pace myself so I can sample from as many trucks as possible.

I visited Roxy's Grilled Cheese for my main course. I LOVED their ham & cheese, which is stuffed with black forest ham, Grillo's pickles, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and a secret sauce. AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Next, I happily discovered The Roving Lunchbox, which specializes in hand pies. They have a rotating selection of the flaky pies including chicken pot pie and beef empanadas. I enjoyed their vegetarian-friendly Truffle mac 'n Cheese hand pie. Don't forget about dessert. Their salted caramel apple pie is served warm and drizzled with caramel. Sooo good!

EAT UP IN NYC: CHICK'NCONE

Saturday, January 28, 2017
Chicken and waffles have been a southern staple for a long time. Fortunately for us New Englanders, chicken and waffles have popped up on menus close to home. NOW, there's a new twist on this food favorite... and it's one you'll still have to travel for.

Chick'nCone has been delighting New Yorkers for a few years. This food truck serves crispy, hand breaded chicken IN WAFFLE CONES! Choose from ranch, BBQ and Cinna Maple sauces. They make the chicken right in front of you in minutes. These crispy cones are the perfect tasty snack or quick meal. You don't even need a fork!

Eat Up New England found Chick'nCone at the Winter Village at Bryant Park in December 2016. The pop up location is gone now, but check them out on social media to see where they will be cluckin' and truckin' next.

SWEET TOMATOES IN NEWTON TO RE-OPEN THIS SUMMER

Friday, May 13, 2016
Tragedy struck at Sweet Tomatoes in West Newton, Massachusetts this past March when someone drove right into the store during the dinner rush. Two customers were killed. Several others were seriously hurt. Right now, the building is still boarded up. The inside is gutted. Owners are promising to rebuild and they plan to re-open in July.

For now, customers can still enjoy their pizza. On Wednesdays and Fridays, they've been parking their food truck in front of their West Newton shop. Their limited menu offers their huge slices, sandwiches and salads. I stopped by today and enjoyed two slices of their BBQ chicken pizza. If you'd like to dine in, Sweet Tomatoes' other locations are in Newton Center, Needham and Northeastern University.

FOOD TRUCK WEDNESDAYS IN WATERTOWN, MA

Thursday, July 09, 2015

Sunny days and tasty local food trucks seem to go hand in hand in the summer. Yesterday, Eat Up New England checked out Food Truck Wednesdays in the parking lot of the Arsenal Project in Watertown, Massachusetts. The Bacon Truck was there and I enjoyed a bacon grilled cheese and some bacon hash from them. Bon Me, Mobile Munch Kitchen, Uyghur Kitchen and Frozen Hoagies also take part. There's also live music. Food Truck Wednesdays are held from 11am-2pm through September 16.

HUGE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES FROM THE COOKIE MONSTAH FOOD TRUCK

Tuesday, May 05, 2015
I've spotted the Cookie Monstah food truck all over Boston and today, I finally got to try one of their ice cream sandwiches. You can pick whatever kind of cookie you want, like chocolate chip, peanut butter, sprinkles and red velvet. Then, fill it with your favorite ice cream. I enjoyed "The Classic" with chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. Mmmm. You can catch the Cookie Monstah's trucks all over the city and at Sowa Sundays.

THE BACON TRUCK VISITS WATERTOWN

Saturday, September 27, 2014
Every fall, I check out the Faire in the Square in Watertown. MA. It's a fun even with music, food and vendors from the community. Today, I was excited to see multiple food trucks at the event including one of my favorites, The Bacon Truck. Equally thrilling, there was no outrageously long line. I got my food in about 10 minutes. This time, I ordered their turkey & avocado sandwich with a side of their bacon hash. Their bacon is so crisp and flavorful and it's the star of all of their dishes.
